Jon Stewart entered the CNN on Monday night, exploiting the network to aggressively promote the new book by the anchor Jake Tapper on the health of former President Joe Biden, a topic that Stewart said that the network should have been covered during Biden’s term.
“Forging the fact that it is strange that the news sells you a book about news that should say -it was a news a year ago,” Stewart said.
The host “The Daily Show” criticized the network for continuing to promote the book in the same way as the news of the recent Biden cancer diagnosis.
“It is fun to see them not only continue to promote the book in the light of this difficult news, but also in frameing this difficult news as even more so a reason to buy this book,” according to Stewart.
Tapper and Axios journalist Alex Thompson wrote “Original sin: the decline of President Biden, his coverage and his disastrous election to work again.”
In a bite segment, Stewart mocked the CNN’s air campaign for Tapper’s book, which according to reports includes revelations on Biden’s cognitive health, as well as the shameful anecdotes about the former president who forget the names of his main auxiliaries.
He interpreted a Tapper montage that connected the book to eight separated CNN appearances before questioning the ethics of information of retaining commercial information.
“The news doesn’t have to tell you what they know when they discover it?” Stewart said.
“Isn’t the difference between news and a secret?” You will not believe what we have discovered! “No, that’s why I’m seeing the news … in a week.”
The CNN push calendar for the book has undergone a particular scrutiny after recent reports on Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. Stewart pointed out the tension between the promotional efforts of the network and the president’s health announcement.
“You have prepared a whole Smorgasbord based on what you think would be a relatively non -complicated story about mental decay,” Stewart said, in reference to CNN wall accumulation in the launch of Tapper’s book.
“News have the clock back, they have book graphics, they got the CNN happy food liaison toys, but now making the story looks almost disrespectful.”
He then sarcastically asked how the network could go from selling the book to reporting on Biden cancer with proper gravity.
“Can CNN filter the needle?” Stewart asked. “How can you promote the promotion of the book of your anchor until the promotion of your anchor?”
Stewart interpreted a compilation of several CNN anchors and correspondents who continued to mention the Tapper book on the air, even when they discussed Biden’s diagnosis.
He then handed one of the hardest lines in the segment: “It’s so difficult. It’s such a difficult time. So insonsible in terms of the pain that your family has to feel and yet, if you act now and use the” TaphatBook “code, Stewart said in an infommercial style.
Continuing criticism, Stewart said: “It’s fun to see them not only continuing to push the book to light from this difficult news, but also on the difficult news of this difficult news to buy this book.”
He closed showing a clip of the CNN media analyst Brian Stelter, who described the diagnosis of Biden cancer as a “dramatic”, given his calendar ahead of the tapper’s book launch.
“The calendar of the cancer diagnosis of former President Joe Biden is certainly dramatic, which reaches the eve of a new book of his health and time in the White House,” said Stelter, who added: “I am sure some observers will say that the book’s reports are even more important now.”
“Yes, nobody says it,” Stewart shot.
“No observer will say that it is more important now. Some observers could think that these CNN people work on order. How, why are they doing this king thing? It’s a situation of cookie scout Girl? Who sells the most tapestry books gets a Schwinn!”
